On March 13, 1908, the Village of Glens Falls went from being the largest village in New York State to an incorporated city when Governor  Charles Evans Hughes, a Glens Falls native and furure US Supreme Court judge, granted the city its charter.
In 2000, on the 100th anniversary of the building of now City Hall, an attempt to raise funds for a clock failed.
In 2006, the newly formed Centennial Committee took on as one of its goals to obtain and install a state-of-the-art clock,
On December 31, at midnight, the new clock was started up at a City-wide New Year's Eve party, kicking off a year long celebration of our 100th year as a New York State chartered city.

Glens Falls and South Glens Falls in neighboring Saratoga County are home to Cooper's Cave made famous in James Fenimore Cooper's Last of the Mohicans

 
Situated at "the falls" between the City Glens Falls and the Village of South Glens Falls, this historical site has easy access via a newly rennovated viewing sight.
 

 
The Hyde offers a world class collection of objects that span the history of western art from the 4th century BC through the 20th century. The Museum's founders, Louis and Charlotte Hyde, acquired the majority of objects during a fifty-year period of avid and highly informed collecting. Many of these works are displayed in their home, known as Hyde House, as well as select galleries in the education wing.

  

The Chapman Historical Museum is a major partner in preparing for the City's 100th Anniversary in 2008.
